Transforming cosmetic procedure aftercare.

CosMedi Repair® cream is an innovative, new medicine specifically designed to complement your cosmetic procedure aftercare regime and is poised to revolutionise the post-procedure skincare landscape in the cosmetics industry through its innovative, high-quality formulation.

It has been designed by a team of scientists and professionals to relieve/ease the symptoms of soft tissue trauma, support wound healing, enhance skin repair, relieve pain and soothe skin, reduce inflammation and skin redness, relieve skin irritation and decrease skin sensitivity, and support skin regeneration. Our product is also an antioxidant and antimicrobial, making it ideal for minor cuts and abrasions.

CosMedi Repair® is the first of its kind to provide consumers with an all-in-one aftercare cream that effectively addresses the majority of post-procedure side effects in a single comprehensive formulation. Unlike traditional approaches that require multiple products for different target areas, such as antimicrobial creams, scar gels, moisturisers, and hydrocortisone creams, CosMedi Repair® is an effective all-in-one solution.

Common side effects after cosmetic procedures:

The body responds to any injury with a conventional inflammatory response, the first step towards healing. Redness, heat, swelling and pain are associated with this first stage.

  • Redness and heat are caused by increased blood flow.

  • Swelling results from the increased movement of fluid and white blood cells into the injured area.

  • The release of signalling molecules and the compression of nerves in the area of injury cause pain.

  • The pain and swelling can keep the patient from using the injured part, serving to protect it from further injury.

A bruise occurs when an injury is strong enough to cause small blood vessels under the skin to leak or tear. Usually, this is associated with some redness and swelling of the area.

  • In the early stage, blood and fluid move into the tissue (icing the area can help slow down this process).

  • Within 24 hours, the leaked blood within the soft tissues becomes deoxygenated; this leads to the classic blue/purple or sometimes black appearance.

  • In the final stages of bruising, a bruise may appear a more yellow-brown or light brown. The yellowing results from red blood cells being broken down into bilirubin and biliverdin, resulting in a yellow/green appearance. Most bruises are gone within 10-14 days.

Scars form as a normal part of healing when the skin is damaged from a burn, trauma, or surgery. Everyone forms different scars. The more flat, smooth and flexible a scar is, the less painful and noticeable it is. To help minimise scars, once the skin has closed, use a cream (ideally CosMedi Repair®) and carefully rub the incision for 5 to 10 minutes twice daily along the same direction as the incision. You need to use reasonably firm pressure, enough to change the colour of the incision from pink to pale. Always actively protect your skin from the sun when scars are healing.

It is crucial to provide the skin with the necessary support, repair and healing in order to achieve an optimal outcome. With the correct aftercare, you can soothe discomfort, reduce inflammation, promote skin health and enhance skin repair and regeneration.

Effective skin healing and repair after cosmetic procedures is important for several reasons:

  • Aesthetics: Proper healing helps to ensure that the treated area has the desired appearance and that scars are minimal.

  • Comfort: If the skin does not heal properly, it can become itchy and painful or develop redness or swelling, which can be uncomfortable for the patient.

  • Reduced risk of infection: Proper healing helps reduce the risk of infection, which can occur if the wound is not protected from bacteria or other microorganisms.

  • Improved outcomes: Proper healing can lead to better outcomes and fewer complications in the long term, as well as a quicker recovery time.

  • Reduced risk of complications: If the skin does not heal properly, it can result in complications such as scarring, pigmentation changes, or the development of keloid scars.

Importance of effective skin healing and repair:

Effective skin healing is crucial for achieving the best possible outcomes from cosmetic procedures. By promoting skin health and supporting the healing process, you can help to reduce the risk of complications and improve the overall aesthetic appearance of the treated area.

With its innovative all-in-one formula, CosMedi Repair® can support their skin's healing and achieve optimal recovery after a cosmetic procedure or surgery. Don't let post-procedure discomfort and complications detract from the beautiful results of your treatment - choose CosMedi Repair™ for comprehensive aftercare support that helps you to look and feel your best.

Active Ingredients:

Unlike cosmetic products that might contain 'fairy dust' sized sprinkles of 'cosmetic quality' extracts, the herbal extracts used in this medicine are obtained/acquired/gathered from authenticated sources and verified for their identity and quality.

The medicinal herbs used in CosMedi Repair® each have their effectiveness demonstrated in well-established medicine monographs, pharmacopeia, clinical trials and more. Here are just some...

  • Martindale - the complete drug reference states that Calendula has antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and astringent properties and is indicated for use in non-serious skin disorders.

Health Canada indicates that Calendula officinalis is used in herbal medicines to help relieve skin inflammations and irritations.

Natural Medicines Comprehensive Database confirms anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory and wound-healing activity.

The British Herbal Compendium, as does The German Commission E monograph, indicates wound healing activity with anti-inflammatory and mild anti-microbial effects.

A clinical trial conducted in 2011[1] showed that skin was measurably firmer and significantly more elastic (indicative of epidermal and dermal water content) after 8 weeks use of a cream containing Calendula officinalis extract.

We chose Calendula flowers for their incredible ability to relieve inflammation and soothe irritated skin. Active in promoting and improving the healing of minor wounds, scratches and abrasions, with a mild anti-microbial action that helps keep your skin clean.

  • The WHO monograph on selected medicinal plants indicates that Centella is effective in accelerating the remediation of wounds and helping to prevent scar formation.

The British Herbal Pharmacopeia indicates dermatological benefits and wound repair activity.

A Split-Face, Double-Blind, Randomized, Placebo-Controlled Trial published in 2020[1] evaluated the Effects of Centella asiatica on Postlaser Resurfacing Wound Healing on the Face. The product was applied four times daily for 7 days, then twice daily for 3 months. After just 2 days, the treated skin was significantly less red and inflamed, with significantly better wound recovery and appearance compared to the placebo.

In a clinical trial[2], the skin hydration capability of a cream containing Centella Asiatica (and non-active ingredients also contained in CosMedi Repair™) demonstrated significantly improved skin hydration in 1, 8 and 24 hours after a single application.

We chose Centella (also called Goto Kola or Hydrocotyle) for its topical pain-relieving qualities and its ability to reduce redness and inflammation. Centella also actively increases skin hydration and assists in minimising scar tissue formation.

  • The British herbal compendium describes Chamomile as having anti-inflammatory, wound healing and anti-microbial actions, suitable for inflamed and irritated skin conditions.

The WHO monograph on selected medicinal plants indicates that Chamomile is effective in redressing inflammation and irritations of the skin and mucosa.

A clinical trial[1] published in 2011 compared the effectiveness of an anti-inflammatory prescription medicine to a twice-a-day compress of chamomile flowers; the lesions where Chamomile was applied healed significantly faster and had less sensitivity and inflammation than those treated with the prescription medicine. Chamomile was effective in relieving the symptoms of soft tissue trauma.

The American Botanical Council indicates that Chamomile is primarily used in inflammatory skin conditions and wound management, including after dermabrasion.

We chose chamomile flowers because they're effective in easing /relieving skin irritation and because they help to provide relief from the symptoms of soft tissue trauma.

  • The Natural Medicines Comprehensive Database describes the anti-inflammatory, pain relieving and soothing effects of stinging nettle leaf.

The British herbal pharmacopeia describes its therapeutic benefits in resolving skin redness, rashes and associated irritation.

Nettle has powerful antioxidant effects, likely mediated by a plethora of active phytochemical constituents.

Other scientific resources indicate local anaesthetic (pain reducing) capability as well as skin soothing, skin regeneration and antimicrobial effects.

We chose Nettle leaf (Urtica dioica) for its antioxidant and profound skin pacifying properties.

  • Vitamin E is, of course, renowned for its antioxidant defence capabilities, protecting skin and skin structures from free-radicals

Vitamin E assists in improving skin barrier function, that is, its ability to retain moisture and in moderating skin sensitivity.

An important factor in maintaining skin health and naturally present in the skin, the concentration of Vitamin E declines over time.

We chose Vitamin E because we knew you wanted it! It helps improve skin hydration and neutralises free-radicals on the skin, and it's so soothing.

Why choose CosMedi Repair®?

Ensuring your skin receives the proper care and attention can help you achieve the best possible outcome from your cosmetic procedure. It is crucial to choose a product that will provide your skin with the support it needs to recover and thrive. CosMedi Repair® has been designed to actively nurture your skin, combining potent herbal actives and vitamin E in a sophisticated cream base. The best of both worlds!

Most medicated creams contain synthetic active ingredients in synthetic bases; the base is just a carrier with no particular role other than being the vehicle. We like to think that our vehicle is a little more special, with predominantly naturally derived ingredients, and it feels like a luxury moisturising cream (and it is!). It's soft and tangible on the skin and glides on easily. It also contains no artificial fragrances or artificial colours.

Numbing creams have their place; however, they only numb the skin and don't help with healing, skin repair, inflammation or hydration. If you do use one, please make sure it's one that's registered with the TGA (it will have an AUST R number on the front), and you'll have to get it from a pharmacy. If you are prescribed these creams, please use them as directed. CosMedi Repair® can still be used in between applications of your numbing cream; its gentle pain relieving can be soothing too!

Antiseptics have their place; however, they just kill germs on the skin; they don't help with healing, skin repair, inflammation or pain relief. If you use one, please make sure it's one that's registered with the TGA (it will have an AUST R number on the front). If you're advised to use an antiseptic, please use them as directed. CosMedi Repair® can still be used as soon as the skin has closed; and has mild anti-microbial properties.

CosMedi Repair® is your all-time 'go-to' aftercare product, as it works on repairing your skin as well as addressing the unwanted effects of cosmetic procedures.

This medicine is included in the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods (TGA).
